Born, Wales, 23 September 1890, the son of George Edward and Isobell Dance. An Electrical Engineer by trade he enlisted at New Brunswick, Canada on the 1 September 1914 into the Canadian Engineers.

Was gassed at Loos on the 25 September 1915 and wounded at Ypres on the 26 November 1915.
