Born at Kettering, Northamptonshire on the 22 September 1898. He was a single man who by religion was a baptist and by trade a painter and decorator. Whilst at Huntroyde he drew several cartoons in the picture album.

To Gallipoli 21 September 1915. Wounded at Gallipoli and evacuated to Egypt then to hospital in Malta.
