27178 Private Henry Muldoon, 8th Battalion Welch Regiment. Born Huncoat, Lancashire, enlisted Rawtenstall, Lancashire. Killed in action, Gallipoli, 8 August 1915. Commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli. The Memorial Register does not record any personal details. Reported in the Burnley Express of 24 May 1919: - NEWS AFTER FOUR YEARS. Private Henry Muldoon, who was reported "missing" as from August
8th, 1915, is now reported to have been killed on that date. On Wednesday,
his father John Muldoon of 53, May Street, Burnley, received information
of this from the War Office. Private Muldoon enlisted into the King's
Own Royal Lancaster Regiment, and was afterwards transferred into the
8th Welsh Pioneers. He was 26 years of age, and resided at 16, Manchester
Road, Hapton, at the time of his enlistment in September 1914. He was
formerly employed as a miner at Higham Colliery. |
