242251 Private Frank Taylor, DCM.
East Lancashire Regiment. Awarded the D.C.M. in the London Gazette
of 21 October 1918. Taylor was a native of Burnley, Lancashire.
The Burnley Express of 16 July 1919 reported: -

A D.C.M. WINNER.
At the Town Hall on Monday morning, the Distinguished Conduct
Medal was privately presented to Private Frank Taylor (242251), of the 3rd East
Lancashire Regiment, whose home is at 2, Oporto Street, Burnley. The soldier's
name appeared in the King's Birthday Honours List in June of this year, the
recommendation for the award being as follows: - "For
conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty as a stretcher bearer during heavy
fighting. He has been the means of saving many lives by the way he has attended
to wounded under severe shell fire." Private Taylor served
for two years on the Western front.
