240404 C.S.M. Hezekiah Hudson.
1/5th Battalion East Lancashire Regiment. Awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in the London Gazette of 17 June 1918. Hudson was a native of Padiham, Lancashire.
The
award of the M.S.M. came under the heading: - "In recognition of valuable
services rendered with the Forces in France".
The Burnley Express of 28 May 1919 carried a report on a parade at Towneley
Park, Burnley during which Hudson was presented with his M.S.M., which it states
was awarded for "continuous good service and
devotion to duty throughout the campaign in Gallipoli and the Sinai Desert,
from May 1915, to February 1917, and afterwards in France."
In
later life, Hudson was the landlord of the Rifle Volunteers, St. Giles Street,
Padiham, Lancashire.
